A relative of mine sent me this. I think the link has drool on it. Not sure if NPOCP, though, definitely some PCH potential, TBH.

Not sure if NP or CP......you will need some serious TLC to that hood or a whole new one.
Also How is there no quarter rust!?

Do it!

I wish. He’s currently driving a Saturn nee Opel, and has decided that what he needs is some V8 whenever it dies - it’s marginally beyond my means at the moment, but I should be able to help him get something like this and revive it a ways down the line.

I think I remember I spent less than 4k on my automatic XR7 and it was MUCH nicer than this one. Times were rough though, people were losing their houses and toys and I happened to have a knot of cash to spread around

Beats me. I was always under the impression the Falcon/Mustang platform was a mil-spec quarter panel destroying device.

Probably not too bad of a price if the rust isn’t too terminal. These things are getting more valuable.

Cougars in general are very high on his “replacement for a Saturn” list, which isn’t active *just* yet but will be at some point. The other most favored entries on the list are second gen Firebirds and Javelins.

there probably is, its just buried under duct tape and bondo.

at least that is thinking outside the normal box of boring “normal” pony cars!

NP all day long.

Honestly, I don’t think this is more than 2.5 hours from me. Tops. 3K might be a bit much though.

Well, V8 2+2 only has so many options... but nobody said you have to pick the boring ones. Of course, if he happens upon more money or gets a raise...

It’s hard to say. Most cars aren’t worth $3k in that shape, but it partly depends on (like somebody pointed out) the quarters and other PITA sheet metal. Definitely worth bringing along a thickness gauge for bondo detection. Things like this have been going up, though.

shit I love me some Marlin - are they worth that kind of cake these days though?
![]() 05/07/2015 at 16:28 |

...no. They’re not. They’re just scarce on craiggy. Unless I misread, though, the guy is selling a spares car too. Last one of these I saw I think was like $4500, with everything and a spare motor, and a fresh paintjob... of course it was only partly reassembled. Got Boredenson’s Syndrome.

I find that odd that they have been going up. Especially in this seemingly poor condition. My guess is cars and parts themselves are getting more scarce.

haha nice terminology there. Scarce anywhere though really

Gremlins and Pacers too, no surprise. I think Americans are not that hard to come by *in theory*, but you have to know the guy who knows a guy who has one: I don’t think many people are trying actively to sell them, but they’re still somewhat all over. Shit, one of the guys at the local Wendy’s says he has a ‘65 he’s redoing.
![]() 05/07/2015 at 17:03 |

Well, there are two 68s with 302s in them over here in Honolulu with asking prices of $6000 & $7500. Which makes that look cheap, but I’m guessing its a bit apples and oranges.
![]() 05/07/2015 at 17:06 |

I really hope these stay relatively cheap, I want bad.
With that said, that might be CP. You can still get a nice one for $10k, this one needs a lot more than $7k in work.
![]() 05/07/2015 at 17:10 |
|
It depends on ones standards. It’d be not-that-hard to make a usable runner out of for not more than $2k more... probably. It absolutely needs more than $7k *worth* of work to make even close to that nice, but by the Wheeler Dealers “Edd’s Time is Worth Nothing” sort of reasoning, anything that’s cheap to get driving *now* and can be fixed up at ones own shop is very attractive.

It seems to be missing not one, but two front suspension thingamawhats. Which isn’t a problem for someone who has so many Falcon-frame parts lying around, it isn’t even funny.

It’s definitely and totally not the case that those are easy to come by and that I’ll even have two extra myself shortly. No sir. Rare part. Raaaaaare. /s
